17,5°C. It's the highest temperature ever mesured in Antarctica. Last hottest prevision was made on 1961, recorded at Esperanza Base(Argentina), and ot was of 17,1°C.

According to scientists, this could be a "remarkable heat wave", usually occouring in the end of austral summer. 

The mechanisms are very complex: in a portion, there's ozone hole, which keep on affect the region's climate through unknown ways; in another portion, there are the global currents.
